Reference Material
The Reference collection consists of
over 3,700 volumes. In addition to books there are online databases
for magazines, journals, reference material and more. For business and
investment you will find Standard & Poor's, Value Line,
Morningstar, and more. Email Reference questions to: citlib@citlib.org.
Periodicals
Current
subscriptions to over 300 magazines may be
found on the shelves in the reading area. Back issues are stored in a
special reference section. Daily newspapers are also located in the
reading area; recent issues are kept in the newspaper room from one to three
months. The library also has the Observer-Reporter back to
August 1808 on microfilm and, beginning in 2000, on CD-ROM.
Large Type Collection
For people with impaired vision, there is a collection of large type fiction
and non-fiction, plus magnifying glasses and a video magnifier which
enlarges printed material or objects.
Local History and Genealogy
The Special Reference room contains an extensive collection of books dealing
with local history and genealogy and is accessible to patrons whenever the
library is open. There is also a large microfilm collection including
newspapers to August 1808, as well as area census and other records.
The Genealogical Society of Southwestern Pennsylvania is housed on site and
holds monthly meetings in the library.

Many titles are being added and are available for two-week circulation.

Slide Programs:
There are over 20 slide programs available for loan to individuals for
programs or presentations. Titles are listed in the Media Catalog at
the Reference Desk.
Activity Files:
Each file has photocopy masters for more than a dozen activities for each
holiday represented. There are 8 holiday files listed in the Media
Catalog at the Reference Desk. This is a program in a kit with games,
skits, poems, and instructions for each given in one handy file.
Bifocal Kits:
There are 12 Bifocal Kits; each one includes a slide
program, audio tape, activities, songs, handouts, discussion questions, and
ways to add touch and smell to your presentations. All are listed in
the Media Catalog at the Reference Desk. They are loaned for a one
week period.
