CitiBooks is our used bookstore located right in the library. It is operated by Our Friends of The Library volunteers who make sure the shelves are stocked with gently used books for all ages and keep the store open three days a week. All proceeds from the CitiBooks are donated to the library.
We accept donations of books in good shape. Newer fictions is always welcome. We cannot accept some materials, like encyclopedias, cookbooks or textbooks. Click HERE to see a full list of items we do and do not accept.
The idea for the used bookstore at Citizens Library came from four women, Fran Higgins, Dona Malesic, Dianne Rigby and Robin Russell, who were either retired librarians or had been part of the library staff. In 2011, they opened CitiBooks in three rooms on the lower level of the library. Today, the store has been relocated to the main floor near the parking lot entrance.
Library Friends
History
The Friends of the Library was formed in 1945 to provide community support for Citizens Library. Since then, we have supported the library with free programming, furnishings, computers, and the outside book depository. We raise funds through CitiBooks, our used bookstore, and our annual Membership Drive in the spring. More than 200 members now contribute to the Friends.
